Coconino County Sheriff’s deputies and Flagstaff police were forced to shoot a man wielding a screwdriver as a weapon after he charged one of the officers near a gas station.
On September 7, 2022, officers from the Coconino County Sheriff’s office and Flagstaff police department responded to a 9-1-1 call about a man breaking into a gas station. Once on the scene, the suspect was seen wielding a screwdriver and not complying with other officers. The suspect, 51-year-old Donald Wayne Henry, then crossed the street before charging the recording officer who was forced to shoot him to protect his own life.
Henry was pronounced dead at the scene by a local EMS team. The situation is still under investigation.
