A deputy involved shooting that occurred on October 6th, 2021, was reportedly recorded by a live streamer who happened to be in the area during the stand off. The suspect, 55-year-old Fidel Bedolla, was reported to the Kern County Sheriffs office for a domestic violence incident.
At approximately 12:06 a.m., Kern County deputies made contact with Bedolla, who at the time was located in a parked vehicle in the 1200 block of Texas Street. As indicated by the body worn camera and live stream footage, Bedolla was holed up in his vehicle, armed with a handgun.
A short while later, Bedolla can be seen exiting his SUV with the handgun, where he immediately pointed it at responding deputies. In response, six deputies discharged their firearms, striking Bedolla and neutralizing him. Despite life-saving medical treatment, Bedolla succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Since the incident, all six KCSO deputies involved were placed on administrative leave.
