This footage depicts LAPD officers Colt Worley and Anthony Lopez, of the Southeast Division, in an Officer Involved Shooting incident, dated May 5, 2023. Viewer discretion is advised.

The video begins with security camera footage of the initial encounter, with no audio. The suspect, seen right foreground in a white/grey hoodie and black satchel, was later identified as Hector Macias. The officers make contact with Macias as part of a directed crime suppression patrol. This conversation is not indicative of any wrongdoing in and of itself, but Macias' behavior during the conversation leads the officers to believe he is armed. Note Macias bringing the satchel to his front at 0:35. Macias and his female associate get into the white Mercedes on the left at 0:50. It promptly speeds away with the officers in pursuit.

Off camera, the officers call a code "415", a "man with a gun." In the pursuit, they lose the Mercedes, the driver, and Macias' associate, who at time of writing (05-06-23) are still at large. Macias, however, is spotted by an airborne unit under an I-10 overpass. The footage catches up to this point at 01:14, where Macias is spotted scaling a gate. The passenger officer is recorded from the car's dash cam, repeatedly hailing and warning Macias. At 01:25, the viewpoint transitions to the driver's bodycam. He scales the gate in pursuit. On his back, Macias repeatedly states that he does not have a gun and whimpers unintelligibly. At 02:04, he manages to draw the gun he claims he doesn't have, and drops it as the officer backs off. By this point, both officers are warning him not to reach for the weapon or they will shoot him. Macias states that he doesn't care, and reaches for it. His story ends there. Interestingly, only after they both shoot him does one officer call him "sir." At this point, the previous events are replayed, slowed.

The passenger officer's camera is shown at 02:52. He assists the first officer in his climb before climbing himself. As he vaults the gate, his partner is already hands-on with Macias as previously shown. As he makes it to them, he warns Macias repeatedly not to reach for the gun which has fallen on the ground. Despite repeated warnings and pleas for Macias not to reach for the weapon, he makes a pronounced and deliberate attempt to do so, at which point the officers fire. The remainder of the video depicts Macias being taken into custody, whereupon he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
