This compilation of bodycam footage provided by the Los Angeles Police Department depicts officers engaging a suspect who is armed with a kitchen knife. He raises the knife and threatens an officer. Although the suspect survives being shot, viewer discretion is advised.

As the footage begins, LAPD are responding to a call of possible assault with a deadly weapon. The caller and suspect, 51-year-old Angel Garrido, warned dispatch that he was going to hurt someone at his apartment, and "whoever showed up". The lead officer in the stack, armed with an AR-15, ascends the stairs. He demonstrates considerable experience, warning another officer to turn his radio down. He also clears corners slowly and announces the rooms ahead. At 0:45, the officers determine that more backup would be useful as the apartment building splits into several units. At 0:50, a second officer holds the corner with a shotgun.

At 01:06, the video transitions to a second officer's perspective. This is the third man in the stack, with pistol and radio in-hand. The lead officers initially decide that they don't "like" the feeling of the problem with which they are presented, and back up. That instinct, and the willingness to heed it, are also indicators of the lead's experience. They back down to the first landing. Approximately four minutes later, another officer arrives with a less-than-lethal 40MM launcher, demonstrating LAPD's attempts to use all tools at their disposal to address this incident peacefully. Unfortunately, before the option to go less-than-lethal presents itself, suspect Garrido reveals himself, prompting the lead officer to command him to show his hands at 03:32.

The video reverts to the lead officer (with the AR). He commands Garrido to drop the knife at 04:00. Garrido refuses, holding the knife in an ice-pick grip and advancing. As Garrido reaches the top of the stairs, the officer fires three times, and Garrido falls down the flight of stairs. A backup officer immediately cuffs him and turns him over. Calls for an ambulance are immediate. At 04:40, we see a slowed and enhanced version of the video, clearly showing Garrido's movements with the knife.

At 04:53, footage of the aid rendered to Garrido begins. An officer is performing chest compressions. Garrido begins to resume breathing at 05:02, but is lost again at 05:29. The officer resumes compressions, and at 05:41 requests that the view be blocked- neither gunshot wounds nor CPR are viewer-friendly. At 06:13, an officer begins to affix a tourniquet to Garrido's right arm. At 07:07, Garrido responds to stimulus. At the time of writing, he is in stable condition at an area hospital. No officers or citizens were otherwise injured.
