(NSFW) Kidnapped Officer Fires Pointblank At Suspect Then Dives Out Of Car

A wild ride captured by a DC Police officers body worn camera, shows the moments an officer was kidnapped during an arrest attempt.

On the afternoon of October 22nd, 2021, patrolling officers we flagged down near the 700 block of Kennedy Street NW, by a person who had just witnessed an armed man chasing another man while brandishing a firearm. Shortly after receiving the information, area officers made contact with a man, identified as Nantango Robinson, but he began fleeing on foot. Officers chased Robinson into a nearby alleyway, where Robinson entered a black Jeep.

As the two pursuing officers attempted to apprehend Robinson, an additional officer arrived on the scene. The body worn camera footage provided shows the moments the third DC officer arrived on the scene. While approaching the struggling officers, the third responding officer opens the rear door of the vehicle in an attempt to get Robinson out. In a split second, Robinson floored the gas pedal, forcing two officers to roll out of the way. Unfortunately, one responding officer rolled into the vehicle and was now trapped in the back seat.

The kidnapped officer began commanding Robinson to stop the vehicle, however Robinson responded by accelerating the vehicle. Indicated by the body worn footage, the officer drew his firearm and desperately requested Robinson to put the vehicle in park. Robinson continued to ignore the officers commands, ultimately forcing an officer involved shooting. Moments after firing a single round into Robinson, the officer desperately rolled out of the moving vehicle to escape the kidnapping. It is estimated Robinson was traveling between 20 to 30 miles per at this time.

Later reports indicated that Robinson drove himself to an area hospital where he was treated for his gunshot wound. Robinson was later arrested and charged with felony assault on a police officer while armed, kidnapping while armed, unlawful possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, fleeing law enforcement officer, failure to obey, and reckless driving.

The officer was treated for road rash injuries along the side of his body. He has since been placed on administrative leave during the investigation of this rollercoaster incident.
