Footage released by the B’Tselem rights group captures the moment two Israeli Defense Force vehicles pull up on two individuals at the al-Faraa refugee camp in the Jordan Valley of the West Bank. The troops immediately open fire on the Palestinian men, believing that they were armed with explosive devices and linked to two men they had previously seen fleeing the scene of an attack on December 8th.
The Israeli Defense Force has launched a formal investigation into the matter, stating that the Military Police had launched the investiation "On the suspicion that an illegal shooting was carried out during the incident. At the end of the investigation, the findings will be submitted to the Military Advocate General for consideration."
36-year-old Palestinian Thaar Shahin and 25-year-old Rami Jundob were pronounced dead at a medical facility the day after this incident was filmed. The Soldiers believed that Jundob was armed with an explosive device, but Thaar Shahin appears to have simply been hiding underneath of a nearby vehicle.
