Officers from the Houston Police Department are forced to shoot a home invasion suspect after arriving on the scene of a home invasion in progress where the neighbor arrived to stop a home invasion.
On June 22, 2022 Houston police responded to reports of a man who was covered in blood screaming and beating on doors on Langdon Lane around 11:26 a.m. According to responding officers, the home-owners were inside of their house when the man broke in and immediately went to the kitchen to grab a knife. Once armed, the suspect immediately started an altercation with the husband, at which point the neighbor arrived with a firearm to assist the home-owners.
As police arrived, the suspect, husband, and neighbor were all involved in a hand-to-hand altercation in the home-owner's bedroom which resulted in the suspect gaining positive control of the neighbors pistol. After several warnings, the officers were forced to engage the suspect to protect not only themselves, but also the other two individuals involved in the altercation.
After clearing one of the two individuals out of the situation, officers were forced back to the end of the hallway where they continued to try and get the suspect to surrender. Instead, the suspect pointed the pistol at officers again prompting them to shoot him several more times to stop the threat.
Once officers stopped the threat, the maneuvered into the bedroom, got the second person out of the room and began rendering life-saving aid to the suspect. The suspect would later be pronounced dead at the scene of the incident. The home-owner was also transported to a nearby medical facility with lacerations on his face and body, he would later be released. No officers were injured during the altercation.
