The Hilo Police Department on the Big Island of Hawaii have released body worn camera footage of an officer involved shooting that took place after a 9-1-1 call about a man harming himself with a knife.
Shortly after arriving at the scene of the incident, 41-year-old Jordan Cacatian approached the officer with a 4-inch-long blade. The officer, who has not been identified by the Hilo Police Department, warned Cacatian at least seven times to drop the knife before he discharged his service pistol to stop the threat.
After bringing Cactian down, the man still refused to drop the knife. A less-lethal Taser was deployed so that officers could clear the suspect and get him in handcuffs and begin providing him with life-saving-aid.
Cactian was transported to a nearby medical facility with a large number of self-inflicted lacerations on his wrists, some of which are expected to have caused nerve damage. He also sustained two gun shots to the left leg, which shattered a bone in his leg.
