(NSFW) Fake Gun, Real Consequences: Suspect Shot by LAPD

This compilation of bodycam and dash cam footage from LAPD's Southeast Division as they respond to a "possible assault with a deadly weapon." They find the suspect with what appears to be a handgun and shoot him as he raises it. Although the suspect will survive his injuries, viewer discretion is advised.

The footage begins with a dashcam view of the incident. Two LAPD officers in a patrol vehicle enter an alleyway where the suspect was reported to be. As they arrive, the suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Urias Saucedo, sits down on a mattress. At 0:18, he pulls what appears to be a handgun from his waistband. He waves the "gun" around in a non-chalant manner, grinning. He gets to his feet at 0:29, and begins to raise it, at which point he is sat back down with a round from the officer who was driving (left). He then points it directly at the officers and is shot again at 0:33. He tosses the "gun" aside at 0:35, still grinning. He momentarily complies when told to "get on the ground," then rises again- this time without the weapon- and attempts to "walk off" being shot. He falls to the ground at 0:57. At 01:07, limping, he flees down the alley. As one officer pursues Saucedo, another momentarily stays with the "gun"- presumably long enough to see it's fake, then picks it up follows to help arrest the suspect at 01:17.

At 02:55, we see the incident from the driving officer's bodycam. After the shooting, we see her return to get the fake fun at 03:58 while her partner interdicts Saucedo. At 04:10, we see the struggle up close as the officers attempt to cuff him. Saucedo still acts oblivious to what just occured.

05:43 begins the incident from the partner officer's point of view. It is not explicitly audible in the dashcam video, but it is at her direction that Saucedo gets up after being shot. She appears to try to walk him through a textbook cuffing procedure- ie, stand up, face away from me, etc- which seems to be counterintuitve, given that he's been shot twice. At 07:49, she threatens to tase Saucedo if he fails to comply with being handcuffed. She succeeds in cuffing him at 08:11.

Saucedo was charged with two counts of resisting an executive officer after being released from the hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.
