This footage, provided by the Oregon State Police, is a compilation, from various perspectives, of their attempts in April 2024 to subdue an armed kidnapping suspect, who is holding his own son hostage. This is made all the more heinous by the fact that the suspect is an ex-cop. Viewer discretion is advised.

I am going to use some unprofessional language here, in order to illustrate a professional, objective opinion. Funker530 viewers of my commentary over the last year will have noted that there is almost nothing that gets me personally angry and professionally dismayed in the same manner as the involvement of innocent children. Speaking in no uncertain terms, it is my professional stance as a Law Enforcement Officer that this guy’s a shitbag. Suspect Elias Huizar, 39 years of age, was a prior LEO out of Yakima, Washington. In April of 2024, he murdered his girlfriend and his ex-wife before kidnapping his 1-year-old son, to which the chase shown here is pursuant. However, prior to this, in February, while working as a School Resource Officer (SRO) and substitute teacher, he was charged with rape concerning a 16-year-old. The fact that he was not held in jail suggests the contact was of a statutory and not forceful nature, but still, fuck this dude. His motive for the double homicide remains unclear.

With that out of my system, we can move on to the video itself. Huizar is shown being pursued by Oregon State Police. At 0:36, an OSP Trooper attempts a PIT maneuver on Huizar’s sedan. The PIT vehicle overshoots as Huizar spins out, and when the chase vehicle approaches Huizar, the dirtbag opens fire, forcing the cop to fire back. Keep in mind, a 1-year-old, Huizar’s own flesh and blood, is in the car.

After the exchange of gunfire, Huizar continues to drive his vehicle down I-5, near Eugene OR. After apparently striking a semi truck and trailer, he crashes in the median at 01:39. Pulling behind Huizar, the Trooper warns bystanders to take cover. However, after taking advantage of children, murdering women, and kidnapping his own child and putting him in harm’s way, the coward puts a round in his own head, ending the hostilities. At the end of the video, the troopers are shown rescuing the baby, who was, thankfully, unharmed.
