(NSFW) Domestic Call Turns Into Deadly Close-Range Shootout

This bodycam footage, provided by the police department in Cyrus, Minnesota, shows a domestic disturbance call that rapidly, and tragically, becomes a gunfight at across-the-table range. Both the suspect and one of the responding officers are killed in this video, which necessitates viewer discretion.

34-year-old Bill Nygard is shown seated at the table. Upon being informed that he will be arrested, Nygard stands at 0:37 and produces a handgun, firing at the two officers in the room. They return fire, killing Nygard, but the officer from whose perspective we first see these events will, shortly afterward, die of his injuries at an area hospital.

Deputy Josh Owen, a 14-year veteran, met his EOW on his 44th birthday.

At 0:50, we see the point of view of the other officer in the room, who also fires on Nygard. He was struck in his vest by a round from Nygard. Afterward, we see the third officer on the scene, who was posted in the hallway and did not fire, although he was shot in the ankle. Both were treated and promptly released from hospital.
