Recent cell phone video released to TikTok shows a truckload of Congolese Soldiers stopping to pick up their wounded as they retreat from a numerically and tactically superior force of rebel fighters.
It takes an especially rare breed of man to pick up his wounded friend and carry him on his back when he can hear the incoming rounds of people trying to kill him snapping overhead. For those of you who are out of the loop, fighting has once again sparked in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This video shows footage of members of the Congolese Army retreating from a numerically superior force of Rebel Fighters from the Rwandan-backed group known as M23.
The footage was recorded in North Kivu, and is concrete evidence of a conflict that was re-sparked in November of last year when members of M23 raped dozens of women and summarily executed over twenty men. The event occurred in the village of Kishishe between November 21st and November 30th. At least 66 women and girls were raped. The action was carried out by M23 to punish the village for allegedly supporting other armed factions in the area.
