This compilation of police bodycam and retail security footage shows a suspect robbing a store in Lancaster, California by breaking in and threatening employees with a large machete. During his confrontation with police, he charges the officers with the blade, and is shot and killed. Viewer discretion is advised.
The footage begins with the suspect, later identified as 38-year-old Jonathan Foster, breaking the glass of the building's front door and striking an employee with his machete. The victim would later be treated for the laceration at an area hospital. Upon encountering the police, Foster initially threatened them with the weapon but eventually began to backpedal into the store, which is where the bodycam footage catches up. As the video shows, Foster is able to withstand several deployments of less-lethal tools, including 40MM and the TASER. It's likely that Foster's jacket prevented the TASER leads from making a connection. However, at 01:52, he charges, wielding the machete in both hands. The Lancaster deputies open fire, dropping him more or less where he began. Despite aid rendered by the deputies and Los Angeles paramedics, Foster was pronounced dead at an area hospital. With the exception of the female employee cut in the beginning, no other persons were injured.
