Shocking video out of Lumberton , North Carolina shows a good samaritan opening fire on a carjacker, but ends up being run over and killed by the suspect in the stolen vehicle.
Footage shows the now deceased good samaritan, identified as Jonathan Adam Lecompte, 38, pointing a pistol at the suspect, Ricky Alex Driggers, 28, and firing at least four times at near point blank distances before Driggers is able to get inside the vehicle and rapidly reverse from the area.
Suddenly, Driggers reenters the frame at high speed with the stolen vehicle and hits Lecompte, launching him into the air and then running him over. Lecompte was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Driggers was chased down by police and taken into custody.
Driggers has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted common law robbery, larceny of a motor vehicle and felony fleeing to elude, and is being held without bail.
It's unclear why the four shots taken by Lecompte were ineffective. It's possible he missed or hit non vital areas. Other rumors swirling on social media claim his weapon was loaded with snake shot, essentially a gimmick load of micro bird shot in a pistol cartridge.
