Nahal Brigade Launches Surprise Operation in Gaza

Officially released footage from the Israeli Defense Force highlights a surprise operation launched by the Nahal Brigade in Central Gaza. Working in conjunction with aerial assets from the Israeli Air Force, they were able to destroy several buildings being used as caches and firm bases by Hamas operatives in the region.
Am I losing my mind from watching too much combat footage, or does the dude at :21 seconds not have a handguard on his rifle?
