The following video was reportedly filmed in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico in July 2018 and shows Mexican soldiers firing rapidly into an armored SUV containing several Gulf Cartel members.

The armor maintained its integrity, and incredibly, three of the criminals surrender and exit the vehicle with non-life threatening injuries. The fate of the thugs once detained by the army isn't known.
