CCTV footage from outside of Engels Air Base in Russia shows a massive explosion occurring in the distance substantiating Russian claims that a Ukrainian drone was shot down in the area.
According to Russian officials, the Engels Air Base in Russia shot down a Ukrainian drone that was targeting the air base. Allegedly, no Russian aircraft were destroyed during the drone's attack run, however three Russian service members stationed at the base were killed by "falling debris" when the drone came crashing to the ground.
Engels Air Base is the location of a large number of long-range Russian strategic bomber planes that have allegedly been used in targeting a number of Ukrainian cities since the start of the conflict between the two nation in February of 2022. The Engels Air Base is located near Saratov, Russia about 450 miles southeast of Moscow.
Unconfirmed reports from Ukrainian sources are stating that a number of Russian long-range bombers were damaged by the attacks, however the Ukrainian government has yet to comment on the issue.
