Massive Explosion at Aluminum Plant in Central China

During a heavy rainfall on Tuesday, July 19, 2021 an aluminum plant in central China exploded into a giant fireball after severe floodwaters reached a high temperature inside the plant's alloy tank.

At around 0400 hours Tuesday morning, the plant in the town of Gaocheng was evacuated after a nearby river, Ying River burst its bank and retaining walls surrounding the river collapsed due to the significant rainfall. Roughly two hours later, at 0600 hours, locals captured the intense explosion which occurred after the alloy tank heated flood waters to an extremely high temperature, creating immense pressure, which caused the massive explosion.

Recent reports have stated there are zero missing persons and there were zero casualties during this incident. All staff and personnel located at the alloy plant were evacuated successfully just hours before this even occurred.
