This juxtaposition of dashcam and body footage from Bowie, Maryland, almost beggars belief. In September 2024, Bowie Police Sergeant Robert Warrington is shown pulling up on what he believes to be a stranded vehicle. He asks a man (identity protected) if he is there to help the female driver. The person denies this, replying that she is helping him get to the hospital. I'm putting all these italics just to make it clear that absolutely nothing nefarious was happening here. In fact, the female bystander/driver was engaged in a good deed. But when the unidentified male keeps walking to retrieve his hat, which had fallen out of the vehicle, this Sergeant Warrington draws, fires, and misses, claiming that the person had a gun (he did not). I'm gonna say it again- the man dropped his hat on the way to the hospital and Warrington both nearly killed him AND thankfully missed at a closer-than-flat-range distance. Despite his profuse apologies- like those would undo what he almost did- Sergeant Robert Warrington was indicted for second degree attempted murder, first degree assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, and one count of misconduct while in office. Holy shit.
