Every infantryman's worst nightmare is presented in this video of a patrol of U.S. Marines trying to cross a culvert full of water in Afghanistan.
I almost wanted to label this video as combat instead of humor since ten percent of every patrol is just trying to get across ditches without falling into them. Unfortunately though, this does not meet the criteria for being true combat footage, so instead I'll categorize it in with the rest of the humor videos because it's always funny watching someone else ditch into a ditch full of water.
Fortunately for this Marine, this looks like it happened around the Marjah area of Afghanistan. While we don't have the full story, I recognize the area which tells me this is most likely in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan. If this had been in Iraq, crossing that ditch would have been a life or death situation, because all of the ditches in Iraq were filled with human waste. Open sewage is a real hazard. While the culverts in Helmand were also somewhat full of human waste, they weren't exclusively that.
It's also a good thing this was a Marine who fell in. He's amphibious by nature, so he's just making sure there's no Taliban in the water.
