Marines on the outskirts of Jurf al-Sakhar, Iraq lay down a base of fire to pin down almost two dozen insurgents as air support comes in to completely annihilate them.
It's almost to the point now where we should start labelling Operation Iraqi Freedom Footage in the history tab, but every day more and more obscure stuff starts falling out of YouTube. A lot of the time, I'll find videos like this labelled something like "Firefight.mkv" in some obscure part of the internet, and normally when I do find it there's almost no context whatsoever on what was going on in the footage. Fortunately, that's not the case with this video.
What we know is that these are in fact U.S. Marines, and they've pinned down around two dozen insurgent fighters near Jurf al-Sakhar. They keep the firing up, and air sweeps in to handle the rest, which is honestly just textbook combined arms warfare. This is some pretty great footage of OIF era Marines being Marines.
