Marines and Insurgents Shout Back and Forth at Each Other in Fallujah

Footage shows Marines participating in Operation Phantom Fury on the rooftop of an insurgent infested building. While the Marines try to find a safe way off of the roof, insurgents can be heard yelling up at them.

This is classic Operation Phantom Fury footage. It shows the reality of one of the roughest military operations in urban terrain that was ever conducted. If you're not in the cool kid club on this one, here's some catch-up material. Operation Phantom Fury was the second Battle of Fallujah, in which Marines and Soldiers moved through one of the largest cities inside of the al-Albar province of Iraq, clearing it house to house in order to ensure the insurgent threat was completely defeated down to the last man.

Imagine being on the roof of this building, knowing that there's an armored vehicle outside waiting to pound the house you're standing on top of. At the top of one set of steps, you can hear the soon to be dead insurgents below you shouting up at you. They know you're there. You know they're there. At the top of another set of steps in an adjacent but connected rooftop, you hear nothing but silence and the ambient noise of the major combat operation happening all around you.

This was the hour-to-hour reality of Marines and Soldiers conducting combat operations to clear Fallujah during Operation Phantom Fury.
