This footage, captured and provided by anti-junta forces in Myanmar, shows a government helicopter plummeting to the earth in flames. It was purportedly shot down by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) using a MANPAD system. The pilot has been reported captured, with all others aboard confirmed dead. This incident essentially marks the debut of modern MANPADS in anti-junta service, as to-date, the AA role has, largely unsuccessfully, been filled by small arms, DShK, or RPG fire. The MANPADS being used by KIA are reportedly Chinese in origin, though this has yet to be confirmed.
