Body camera footage released by the St. Louis County Police Department, shows the moments officers responded to a suspicious persons call that resulted in a deadly officer involved shooting.
On December 12th, 2021, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Carson Road, after a 9-1-1 caller indicated a man was brandishing a handgun at people in the area. Shortly after their arrival, officers can be heard providing verbal commands to the suspect, to drop the firearm. Despite their negotiation efforts, the man discharged his firearm at police and began fleeing the area.
The first responding officers fired multiple shots from their weapons; however the man continued fleeing the area through a nearby wood line. Several agencies responded to the area, where a search effort for the suspect began. Officers eventually relocated the man in the 600 block of Tiggin Avenue, only two blocks south of the original shooting.
As officers approached the suspect providing verbal commands to drop the weapon, the suspect reengaged the officers. Responding officers discharged their weapon toward the suspect, fatally wounding the man. CPR and other life-saving measures were performed at the scene, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The suspect was later identified as 35-year-old Jeremi Moore. No officers were struck during this incident and a weapon was recovered at the scene, which was booked as evidence.
