Lucky Soldier's Plate Stops 30mm Round

A Ukrainian soldier was reportedly hit by a 30mm auto cannon round, but he was extremely lucky as his body armor vest stopped the round from penetrating his torso and killing him.

Obviously the round didn't hit him directly at full speed or he would be dead. This is something a lot of Youtubers and peace time gear "experts" with no combat experience don't grasp when they tell you to not waste your money on ballistic helmets and soft armors. In actual combat, projectiles often skip, tumble, deflect, pass through barriers, or exhaust their energy due to range limitations before they find their mark. Body armor that may not have stopped a direct hit from certain projectiles, may actually make a life-saving difference when real-world factors are in place.
