The Russian Ministry of Defense has released footage of LPR troops utilizing what appears to be a refurbished AZP S-60 Anti-Aircraft Gun in combat against Ukrainian positions.
The AZP S-60 was developed at the tail end of the 1940s and first put into active service with the Soviet Military in the 1950s. While the weapon system has seen extensive use in a number of conflicts around the world, it was mostly phased out of use by the Soviets in the 1960s as their anti-aircraft capabilities were upgraded to dominantly missile based platforms. For the most part, the recent use of this platform in other conflicts has been limited to rebel factions who purchased them off of the black market, where a large number of these weapon systems exist due to corruption in the Russian military.
In Ukraine, this weapon system has started to make a comeback in a big way. It has been primarily used as an indirect fire weapon system. When used in this capacity, it has a range of 6.1 kilometers and can fire up to 120 rounds per minute with it's 57mm shells. Regardless of the weapon systems age, this video does make it look like a formidable weapon system.
