The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) recently posted a tribute dedicated to their fallen officers who had passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite your political or scientific view point on the COVID-19 pandemic, we ask that you take a moment of remembrance to reflect on the dedicated service of these ten officers who lost their lives due to COVID-19 related complications.
According to statistics shown on the "Officer Down Memorial Page", between January 1st, 2020 and October 16th, 2021, 476 active police officers nation wide lost their lives due to COVID-19 related complications. Within that same time frame, an additional 259 officers lost their lives from a diverse cause of death. Regardless of cause of death, again we ask that you respect the uniform and service and put your personal opinions aside.
A Hero's Welcome
by Robert Longley
Time to come home dear brother
Your tour of duty through
You’ve given as much as anyone
Could be expected to do
Just a few steps further
The smoke will start to clear
Others here will guide you
You have no need of fear
You have not failed your brothers
You clearly gave it all
And through your selfless actions
Others will hear the call
So take your place of honor
Among those who have gone before
And know you will be remembered
For now and evermore
