The Kurdish Afrin Liberation Forces (HRE) released video showing a nighttime attack against a Turkish-backed militia outpost as well as a successful improvised explosive device (IED) operation against either Turkish regulars or militia.
The attacks took place around 19 May 2021 in the northwestern portion of Syria's Aleppo province. The Kurdish faction claims to have killed 11 Turkish proxy militia members and 3 Turkish soldiers. Turkey didn't report any service member losses in Syria, however.
The Kurdish HRE was formed in response to Turkey's Operation Olive Branch, which invaded Syria to push the Kurds out of Afrin and the surrounding area. Turkey turned the area into a garrison for Sunni-Arab proxy forces, many of whom were former ISIS, al Qaeda, and FSA rebels.
