Khaatumo State Forces Ambush and Capture Somaliland Soldiers

This footage depicts SSC Khaatumo troops ambushing and capturing the drivers of several Somaliland military vehicles.

Khataatumo State, also termed the Khatumo State of Somalia, declared itself an autonomous region of Somaliland in 2012 but was re-integrated into the country in 2017, with certain rights and distinctions added to constitution. However, in response to Somaliland soldiers allegedly killing unarmed civilians in late 2022, the region is again in rebellion under a government referred to as SSC Khaatumo. The nascent government recently established regional administrations and pending Presidential elections.

In this admittedly somewhat chaotic video, we see an MLRS technical being fired upon at 0:12. A crewman bails out at 0:17 and drops to his hands and knees before trying to flee. The driver of the truck gets out at 0:31 and is questioned as small arms fire continues all around.

At 0:53, an SSC Khaatumo soldier is seen tying a Somaliland prisoner. In lieu of handcuffs, zip ties, rope, cord, a belt, or pretty much anything that would seem to make more sense, the soldier opts to use a red sweater.
