The IDF has made the decision to destroy a major press headquarters inside of Gaza, evacuating the building's tenants with one hour of notice before they destroyed it using three missiles.
According to the IDF, Hamas was using the building to run operations, which made it a legitimate military target. Occupants of the building were given one hour of notice to evacuate the building before the strike in the video. "The world will know less about what is happening in Gaza because of what happened today," AP president and CEO Gary Pruitt said in a statement. "We are shocked and horrified that the Israeli military would target and destroy the building housing AP's bureau and other news organizations in Gaza.
The Associated Press was just one of several journalistic entities operating out of the high-rise building in Gaza. The New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists is demanding that the IDF provide a detailed and documented justification for the strike, because they believe the strike was done with malicious intent to prevent journalists from documenting the conflict.
