A Ukrainian air defense unit employs the IRIS-T system to intercept Russian targets. IRIS-T is a medium-range surface-to-air missile system provided to Ukraine by Germany. The system possesses an infrared capability and can neutralize a variety of targets including missiles, rockets, and drones. Ukrainian forces have reported that IRIS-T is extremely effective, though the Russians have been able to neutralize at least three systems using Lancet drones.
