This GoPro-style footage shows Iraqi al Jighaifa tribesmen attacking a position held by ISIS fighters in the Anbar desert. The video itself is a compilation of several clashes that occurred throughout the day, resulting in several ISIS combatants KIA and seized property destroyed.
The al Jighaifa tribe have been fighting ISIS over the last 10 years, with situation reports mentioning combat between the two groups going back to a four-hour firefight in Haditha, in July 2014. This long-standing conflict can sometimes make it difficult to date and place events as they are reported, but this offensive has been confirmed to have occurred yesterday.
Although ISIS is typically the aggressor, this footage shows that ISIS has neither the initiative nor impunity at all times. With a series of detonations and small arms attacks, the al Jighaifa reportedly killed several ISIS combatants and destroyed at least one building and a truck in ISIS possession.
