Drone footage from Iraq's war against the Islamic state in 2017 shows an ISIS fighter being neutralized by a precision airstrike after attempting to take down an Iraq flag west of Mosul.
The first airstrike obliterates the insurgent's vehicle, which gives him time to comprehend the gravity of the situation he is in, now, with no means to escape. He hears the second munition coming toward him, and he goes into the prone position, hoping to survive the blast, but the bomb was too accurate and makes a direct strike on his position.
The Battle for Mosul officially kicked off in October 2016, and was intended to dislodge the Islamic State from the city and surrounding areas. ISIS had been using Mosul, Iraq's second most populated city, as a capital/caliphate headquarters since 2017.
