This short dashcam clip shows State Trooper Jesse Gregory effecting a traffic stop on the highway in Canadian County, Oklahoma. He elects to contact the driver from the passenger side of their vehicle. This decision almost certainly saves his life as an inattentive driver in a black SUV plows into the driver's side of the stopped vehicle.
Although Trooper Gregory was thrown to the side from the impact, both he and the other drivers were treated and released from an area hospital. Miraculously, Gregory was on his feet seconds after impact. Reports from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) state that approximately 3,000 people are killed by "distracted drivers" each year.
