Footage released by Hezbollah shows two "Burkan" lob bombs being utilized against an Israeli military outpost located near Biranit. According to Hezbollah, the rocket propelled bombs were 500kg each, but the effects of the attack are unknown due to Hezbollah's inability to conduct anything like a proper battle damage assessment.
If you're an Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran, there's a good chance you've had an experience with a weapon system similar to these lob bombs. AQI first popularized them in attacks against coalition forces using Chinese 107mm rockets to fire explosives into forward operating bases. While these weapons do not have pin-point precision accuracy, they are highly effective and dangerous, and it appears as if they have only gotten larger and more deadly over time.
My co-writer on the Funker530 project Will Killmore has spent a lot of time working with indirect fire weapon systems, and he theorizes that these rockets are most likely petrol based due to the amount of fire. He also thinks that these could be Katyusha rockets, which are prolific on the black markets groups like Hezbollah use to obtain their own logistics for combat operations.
