This footage, provided by a drone pilot in Ukraine’s 47th Mechanized Brigade, shows a Russian BMP running over a mine near Avdiivka, which promptly transforms the infantry fighting vehicle into charred wreckage.

As we can see in the drone footage, there are actually two detonations which occur here, the first at around 0:09 and the second just before 0:10. There are a couple different schools of thought here. It is possible that the BMP ran over two mines- perhaps an AP mine before the larger explosion from an anti-tank mine, or the smaller explosion was meant to cause a mobility kill. It’s otherwise possible that the second detonation was an internal one set off by the first charge. One thing we know for certain: when you’re duckin’ dodgin’ bullets every day, it’s hard out here for a BMP.
