Fuel Protests Rage in Kazakhstan as Government Resigns

A state of emergency was declared in Kazakhstan today as fuel protests met their flash-point in cities across the nation. Key members of the government have resigned amid the protests.

On top of this, in the middle of these protests, key members of the Kazakhstan government have resigned. including the country's Prime Minister Askar Mamin.


In response to the protests Kazakhstan's President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has already called on the heads of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, which includes nations like Russia, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan, to put down the unrest within the borders of Kazakhstan. The protests themselves are about the severe spike in fuel prices which have absolutely crushed the working class people of Kazakhstan.
