New video and information coming out of Kabul claims to show Taliban factions splintering and in-fighting amongst themselves as the situation there continues to deteriorate even further.
While this footage is shaky and blurry at best, it appears to show a gunfight occurring between two groups of Taliban fighters. More and more as time passes in Afghanistan and the Taliban are forced to deal with the non-conventional threat of IS-K, the NRF, and the Afghan Freedom Front, we expect to see this happening.
Members of the Taliban have no professional warfighting experience outside of their own time as a guerilla force, and their leadership has absolutely no idea how to govern or control a country. As a result, their leaders are doing exactly as we predicted and internally fracturing away from the group to take control of their own territories as War Lords.
If this trend continues for the Taliban it will be incredibly easy for groups like IS-K to pick up disenfranchised Taliban fighters, and even easier for professionally trained groups of fighters like the NRF and AFF to overwhelm them.
We'll continue to monitor the situation on the ground in Afghanistan and we will update you as soon as more information becomes available.
