This short clip depicts a member of Ukraine’s International Legion swapping an AR-pattern rifle for an AK mid-firefight and getting stuck in with his squad, firing at Russian troops in Bakhmut, Donetsk.
Despite their reputation in some circles of an affinity for wine and surrender, the French have a long history of putting in the work, from the Maquis resistance fighters of the 1940s to the end of Operation Barkhane in the Sahel earlier this year, along with the continued operations of France’s vaunted GIGN counter-terror unit as some examples. While this Frenchman’s background is uncertain, he’s clearly departed from the stereotype, swapping his apparently empty AR for an AK in short order and quickly getting on-line and into the fight.
