An incident which occurred on August 11th, 2021, left a heavily armed suspect wounded after a lengthy standoff with City of Edmond Police Officers. That Wednesday evening, patrolling officers were dispatched to a nearby residence, after a call came in of a reported active shooter.
From witness statements, a neighbor had reportedly walked over to his friends home to conduct a welfare check. As the neighbor knocked on the door, he immediately became under heavy fire from the suspect. Running to a nearby gas station, the neighbor contacted local law enforcement, who soon after arrived on the scene. The suspect, who was identified as 36-year-old Carrington Scott, was holed up in his residence, as law enforcement officers surrounded his home.
With little information, officers retrieved their service rifles, further allowing them to secure the area with distance between the active shooter. Inside the residence, Scott continued to fire rounds from a high powered rifle, at random. After a lengthy standoff, Scott exited his residence wearing a plate carrier. Along with that, he was armed with what appears to be an FN-SCAR -H and a handgun.
Giving Scott numerous commands to drop the weapons, Scott refused, ultimately causing an officer involved shooting. Wounded on the ground, officers approached Scott and removed the firearms from his possession. Officers immediately began treating Scott for his wounds until medical transport arrived for his non-life threatening injuries. He was later arrested for shooting with intent to kill, shooting into a dwelling, wearing body armor during the commission of a felony and felony malicious injury to property.
Edmond police later released that no officers or civilians were injured during this incident.
