The worst fighting in decades has broke out between the Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan militaries resulting in at least one death and dozens of injuries.
The Tajiks and Kyrgyz are both attempting to shift blame to the other party for the flare up in hostilities. The border dispute stems from the fall of the Soviet Union and the resulting political borders.
This most recent surge in violence was reportedly spurred by the Tajik military emplacing surveillance cameras at the Golovnoi water distribution center, which lies in an area of undefined sovereignty.
The attached video is a series of witness recordings documenting gun battles and military vehicle maneuvers to the border region.
