Female Trooper Collides Head-On With Drunk Driver To Save Runners

Incredible dashcam footage coming from the Florida Highway Patrol, shows the selfless act a Florida Trooper took to save the lives of runners participating in a 10K run, after she intentionally slammed her patrol vehicle head-on with a drunk driver.

On March 6th, 2022, Master Trooper Toni Schuck made contact with a reported vehicle driving down I-275 near the Tampa Bay area. After receiving report of a potential drunk driver blowing through checkpoints, Trooper Schuck became mobile in her patrol vehicle. In the dashcam footage shown, Trooper Schuck is observed, veering her patrol SUV directly into the oncoming car.

Only a short distance down the road from the collision were thousands of runners crossing the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, who were raising money for military families.

Both Trooper Shuck and the suspect, later identified as 52-year-old Kristen Kay Watts, suffered serious injuries but are reported to make a full recovery. Since the incident, Watts has been placed in custody at the Manatee County Jail on a $52,000 bond.
