An ammo depot on a Kazakh Military Installation today suffered from several massive explosions wounding at least 60 people. The explosion is being spread as footage from the attacks in Kabul, which is untrue.
Well, here I am. I'm officially a Facebook Fact-Checker.
Today in Kazakhstan's southern Zhambyl province, multiple explosions near an ammunition depot were recorded. The situation itself is still under investigation, but at least 60 people were wounded according to deputy defense minister Ruslan Shpekbayev. According to early reports, some sort of fire broke out inside of the ammunition depot, causing the sympathetic detonation of explosives used in engineering operations. The nearby settlements are all being evacuated while the situation is under investigation.
The reason we're posting this video with a Fact Check in front of it is because this footage is currently being spread around the internet as footage from the terror attacks at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan where at least 10 Marines and Soldiers were killed in a suicide attack. If you see this footage listed as the attacks in Afghanistan, that's not the truth of the situation at all. While this is a rather impressive explosion, it is not the suicide attack from today.
