This footage shows a pair of German-donated Marder 1A3s putting in some pretty serious work, courtesy of Ukraine's 225th OSHB (Assault Brigade). Attacking Russian positions in Kurshchyna, the APCs are protected by a functioning EW suite which wards off Russian FPV drones- a luxury rarely afforded to Russian mechanized units. RPG rounds from the Russians fly by, but this appears to be purely bad marksmanship. The Marder family of APCs is fairly venerable, hailing from 1970s West Germany. The A3 variant (currently in service with the German Bundeswher) shown here stems from an upgrade program which began in 1988, which has obviously been upgraded further with comms and EW options. In August of 2023, 100 had been donated to Ukraine; Oryx, an independent organization that tracks the destruction of military vehicles in conflict, reports that as of September 2024, 26 have been confirmed lost. That total is comprised of 13 destroyed, 3 damaged, 8 abandoned, and 2 captured.
