A critical incident that occurred on June 16th, 2021, left a suspect dead after deputies from the Eureka County Sheriff's Office (Nevada) engaged in a high-speed pursuit and returned fire against the male suspect.
The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Zachary Minissale, reportedly shot a Nevado Department of Transportation employee on State Route 278 in Eureka County. Minissale fled the area of the shooting and traveled approximately 42 miles before his vehicle was disabled by spike stripes. As shown in the dashcam footage, Minissale's vehicle lost control and veered off the shoulder of the road.
Upon exiting his vehicle, Minissale began engaging responding deputies with a .45 caliber revolver. In response, the two deputies returned fire, striking Minissale a single time, and fatally wounded him.
The Nevada County sheriff’s office released information that deputies located a 30-year-old British citizen, Jessic Clayton Robiere, dead in a home on Bodie Ridge Road in Nevada City on the same day the shoot-out occurred. The residence of interest was owned by Minissale, and it is believed he was involved in the homicide.
