A suspected drunk driver led Orem, Utah police on a chase before losing control of his SUV and plunging off an overpass. The vehicle dropped 25 feet and burst into flames upon impact.
The driver, Dustin Butterfield, 35, was lodged in the burning vehicle, and the responding officers frantically worked to free him from the wreckage. At one point Butterfield can be heard saying, "I'm on fire!" The officers were able to free the man and dragged him a safe distance from the fire. Butterfield was taken to the hospital and treated for severe but non life-threatening injuries.
Butterfield has been charged with fleeing from police, passing a school bus with its stop-arm out, running a red light, and reckless driving. The investigation as to whether he was impaired or not is ongoing.
