Convoy Rolls over 40 Pounds of Homemade Explosives

Soldiers participating in a joint-forces convoy roll over top of an improvised explosive device's pressure plate and detonate 40 pounds of homemade explosives under their MRAP.

This video takes me straight back to the Farah and Helmand Provinces. If there is one thing we all have to collectively give the Taliban credit for, it's their ability to hide improvised explosive devices in the road. The Taliban could hide yellow lard jugs full of homemade explosives better than just about anyone in the world I'd imagine. Of course, right now they have ISKP and the NRF giving them a run for their money.

What you're looking at here is a video that was recorded in the Paktika Province of Afghanistan back in 2009. According to the Soldiers involved, no one was injured, only slightly shaken up. Fortunately, that's a result of the MRAP doing its job like an absolute unit of a vehicle. I can tell you from first hand experience, 40 pounds of homemade explosives is enough to do considerable damage to the crew inside of a humvee. It's crazy to me how the driver's first thought is to apologize for not seeing the IED. You're alright King. You did your best, and not a single person is mad at you.
