Complex Ambush Against Armored Column Initiated by IED

Rebel Fighters with the Free Syrian Army initiate a complex ambush against an armored column of Syrian Arab Army vehicles by setting off an IED underneath of a tank.

For the sake of context, this video was recorded in the Khan Shaykhun region of Syria on April 7, 2012 near the very beginning of the conflict in Syria. At this point in the war, the Assad Regime's tanks were running rampant, and there was very little that could be done by the FSA to stop them. Even in this video, we're seeing how entirely ineffective simple improvised explosive devices are against the heavily armored behemoths of the Syrian Arab Army.

It's possible that the tank may have thrown a tread, but no video evidence of even that much damage occurring is visible in the recording taken by the triggerman. In fact, it's likely that there was little to no damage outside of the crew's bells being lightly rung considering the vehicle doesn't even appear to slow as the IED is detonated underneath of it.

Personally, I'm not an armor guy. My experience with tanks ends with being the dumb infantryman the tankers show their vehicles off to when we conduct a joint-training exercise. If a tanker could lend some knowledge down in the comments on what it's like hitting an IED inside of a tank, it would be greatly appreciated, and we'll pin your comment up to the top.
