In what may, at first, appear to be a miracle recorded on video, a half dozen Saudi coalition fighters survive a direct hit on their technical vehicle by a Houthi rebel anti tank guided missile.
However, what you're witnessing is not a miracle. While the explosion looks devastating, most ATGM warheads are designed to cut through the thick steel armor of main battle tanks, while little thought is put into anti personnel or blast destruction properties.
In the video we can see the strike, and then several people bailing out of or still riding in the back of the targeted pickup. It does appear that the driver was wounded severely, however.
The ATGM likely costs several times more than the value of the pickup and yearly salary of the targeted troops combined. Does that mean this operation was overkill? Not necessarily. An enemy life taken is an allied life saved.
