Close Call: Suspect's Weapon Fires as Police Disarm Him

This bodycam footage, provided by NYPD, shows officers disarming and arresting an armed suspect in Brooklyn, New York. He was allegedly involved in the shooting of a woman earlier in the day. Police find him sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle and order him to drop the gun, seen in his right hand. The officer giving commands is admittedly doing so in an extremely clipped manner, demanding repeatedly that he drop the weapon as the suspect requests to talk to his mother. At 0:35, the officer grabs the suspect by the wrist and pulls him out of the vehicle with assistance from other officers, trapping the suspect's arm on the ground as they force him down. At 0:43, the weapon fires, extremely close to the officers surrounding the suspect. The NYPD officers and the suspect wrestle for the handgun for several seconds. At 01:11, an assisting officer finally frees the handgun from the suspect, at which point the officers create distance as others effect the arrest.
